The Big One | Surfer-Themed First Birthday Session at the Beach 🌊

There’s nothing more fun than celebrating a first birthday session at the beach—especially when it’s surfer-themed! This little guy’s milestone was all about “The Big One,” and the Gulf Coast made the dreamiest backdrop for his photos.

We headed to one of my favorite local beaches near Sarasota and Bradenton, FL, where the sand, surf, and sunshine gave us the perfect setting. With his surfboard prop, beachy outfit, and big smiles, he looked like the coolest little surfer dude around.

What I loved most about this session was how it captured his adventurous spirit. He played in the sand, dipped his toes in the water, and grinned from ear to ear while mom and dad cheered him on. These are the kinds of natural, joy-filled moments that make milestone photography so special.
